Pebble Hill offers many areas of interest for children. Children of all ages are invited to bring their families and explore our grounds at any time. Plan a picnic by the pond, pet the horses, wander through the garden maze, and enjoy a great day outdoors.
The Pinewoods Birds Festival, Christmas Sampler, Generational Tea Party and Ice Cream Social all have activities that are specifically geared to children. Pebble Hill also has a Summer Day Camp.
This year, for the first time, Pebble Hill Plantation held an Old-Fashioned Day Camp from June 8 through June 12.
Children from seven to twelve years of age spent their mornings with a full agenda of fun-filled activities. They enjoyed a hay wagon tour of the plantation’s expansive grounds. At the Stables, they were introduced to the four-legged residents, enjoyed a special sweet treat of horse-shaped cookies, and had a carriage ride.
They toured the Main House where they received a take-home packet of word games and history information. Butterfly expert, Julie Neel, instructed the group about butterfly gardening, and the children planted a garden on site. At the end of the week, campers left with a scrapbook of memories of their time at Pebble Hill.

Student Groups
Organized student group tours can be arranged and tailored to suit the ages of the students. Students must be 6 years or older to tour the Main House. Maps are furnished for self-guided tours of the grounds. Wagon rides (weather permitting) and picnics can be included. A Pebble Hill representative is always available to come to your school to present a program on the plantation. This overview is especially beneficial for groups planning field trips to Pebble Hill.
